CAD Draftsman – Outside Plant Fiber (DoD)

About the role

CACI is seeking an experienced CAD Draftsman to support the CJTF‑HOA/AFRICOM mission in Djibouti. The role focuses on updating and maintaining outside‑plant (OSP) fiber infrastructure documentation for a Department of Defense organization.

Key responsibilities

• Update, revise and maintain the N6 CLDJ baseline OSP communications manhole system documentation.
• Produce as‑built ISP (fiber/copper) drawings and related O&M documentation for contractor‑installed projects.
• Develop and update Installation Design Plans (IDP) and topology maps.
• Review excavation permits and provide subject‑matter‑expert support for OSP/ISP mission requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure accurate implementation of network plans.
• Utilize fusion splicers, OTDRs and cable placement equipment to verify installations.
• Maintain detailed records of splicing, test results and network diagrams while adhering to safety protocols.

Required profile

• Secret security clearance (minimum).
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
• Self‑directed and motivated with at least several years of relevant experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
• Knowledge of OSP fiber infrastructure documentation.
• Experience with fiber optic splicing and OTDR operation.
• Familiarity with cable placement equipment.
• Technical drafting of Installation Design Plans.
