Boat Engineer

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Marine Engineer to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves design, analysis, construction support, maintenance, and repair of marine vessels and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research, testing, and evaluations for vessel design and modification.
• Develop engineering designs, calculations, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Oversee engineering activities throughout vessel construction, modification, and repair projects.
• Perform quality control inspections, acceptance testing, and root cause analyses of equipment failures.
• Support preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of four years of marine engineering experience.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining and ability to obtain required visas and credentials.
• Ability to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, SOLIDWORKS.
• Working knowledge of marine automation systems, including HMI and PLC control systems.
• Strong understanding of marine structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering principles.
