Community Volunteer for Health Surveillance in Obock

About the role

The World Health Organization seeks national community volunteers to strengthen active health surveillance at the Obock health centre and surrounding locality in Djibouti. Volunteers will work closely with health structures, local authorities and humanitarian partners to quickly detect suspected disease cases and coordinate field teams.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct active surveillance at health facilities, community entry points and within the refugee camp.
• Identify and report suspected cases of acute watery diarrhoea, measles and other priority diseases.
• Coordinate and support a team of field volunteers, ensuring adherence to humanitarian principles and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with local health authorities and partners to facilitate timely response actions.

Required profile

• Citizenship of Djibouti and residence in the Obock region.
• Commitment to humanitarian values, confidentiality and teamwork.
• Ability to work in challenging environments with limited water, sanitation and security conditions.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of disease surveillance and reporting procedures.
• Familiarity with community health outreach and data collection.
