Communication Associate

About the role

The Communication Associate will support UNDP’s Country Office in Djibouti by adapting the global communication strategy to the local context. Working within the Communications Unit, the incumbent will help raise the visibility of UNDP programmes, promote the Sustainable Development Goals and engage diverse audiences through high‑quality communication materials.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and edit a range of communication products, including press releases, briefs, newsletters, social media posts and multimedia content.
• Collaborate with programme teams to gather information, ensure accurate messaging and align communications with development priorities.
• Manage and update the Country Office’s website and social‑media channels, monitoring reach and audience engagement.
• Support the organization of events, press conferences and stakeholder meetings, preparing background materials and visual aids.
• Maintain the UNDP brand guidelines and ensure consistency across all external and internal communications.

Required profile

• University degree in Communications, Journalism, International Relations or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in development or humanitarian communication.
• Excellent written and verbal English; knowledge of French is an asset.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment and meet tight deadlines.
