HVAC Technician – Djibouti

About the role

A client of Summit Recruitment & Search, an MEP and HVAC installation company operating in Djibouti, is looking for an HVAC Technician. The role covers field interventions in line with technical standards, safety regulations and company procedures, with a focus on quality maintenance and installation, accurate reporting and on-site client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and minor project works according to schedules and work instructions.
• Carry out diagnostics, component replacements, system testing, cleaning and recommissioning of HVAC equipment.
• Handle refrigerants in line with regulatory standards, with accurate tracking and documentation.
• Prepare and submit detailed service reports covering work done, time spent, parts used and client approvals.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements and site regulations, and report technical issues, risks and part needs promptly.
• Maintain tools, service vehicles and equipment, and support assistant technicians or apprentices when assigned.
• Take part in safety briefings, technical training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• At least 3 years' experience in HVAC maintenance or installation, preferably in commercial or industrial settings.
• Technical certificate or diploma in HVAC, refrigeration or a related field.
• Valid electrical authorization and refrigerant handling certification.
• Experience in multicultural or demanding field environments is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of diagnostics, component replacement and system maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and refrigeration schematics.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, measurement instruments and maintenance systems (CMMS).
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
