MWR Technician / Lifeguard

About the role

The MWR Technician/Lifeguard supports the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. The role combines pool operations, water quality testing, and safety oversight to ensure a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for service members.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily pool operations, including cleaning, filter maintenance, and vacuuming.
• Conduct water analysis testing in accordance with NAVMED P-5010-4 standards.
• Inspect pool area and equipment each day for safety, cleanliness, and proper repair.
• Organize and supervise safe pool events and respond to emergencies or storm procedures.
• Monitor proper use of aquatics and recreation equipment.
• Maintain monthly chemical and property inventories and ensure proper storage.
• Complete records, housekeeping tasks, and assist with construction‑related activities as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years experience coordinating team sports, recreational clubs, or social events.
• Preferred: MWR Armed Forces experience and some college coursework.
• CPR and first‑aid certification preferred; American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required if the facility has aquatic features.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
