Somali/Amharic CAT III Linguist

About the role

Valiant Integrated Services is seeking experienced linguists to provide high‑quality interpretation, transcription and translation services for Somali and Amharic languages in support of U.S. operations. The role involves working in austere environments, delivering accurate language support, and advising on cultural nuances.

Key responsibilities

• Perform consecutive translation, transcription and interpretation of Somali and Amharic into English and vice‑versa.
• Translate colloquial, slang and technical expressions accurately.
• Provide cultural and ethnic context for statements, conversations, and documents.
• Scan, research and analyze foreign‑language documents.
• Travel and operate in austere locations as required.
• Complete other related tasks assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Native‑level proficiency in Amharic, Somali and English (ILR Level 3/3).
• Extensive knowledge of regional cultures; native familiarity preferred.
• U.S. citizenship with a TS/SCI clearance.
• Ability to pass a Personnel Security Clearance and medical fitness examinations.
• Willingness to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lb and hearing standards.
• French language proficiency is a plus.
