Water Systems Chemist

About the role

The Water Systems Chemist provides technical support for water treatment, quality monitoring, and chemical analysis for a U.S. Navy program on the remote island of Diego Garcia. The role ensures compliance with Navy environmental and public health standards while maintaining reliable water system operations.

Key responsibilities

• Sample, test, and analyze potable water, wastewater, and industrial water systems.
• Conduct routine chemical tests, record results, and adjust treatment processes to meet quality standards.
• Operate laboratory equipment, prepare reagents, and maintain testing supplies.
• Support inspections, audits, and troubleshoot water quality issues.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in water treatment, water quality testing, chemistry, or environmental laboratory operations.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport, ability to travel internationally, and meet contract medical and security requirements.
• Ability to work in a remote, austere environment and obtain necessary visas and facility credentials.
