About the role
Perle is seeking a freelance transcriptionist fluent in Oromo to convert two‑speaker, channel‑separated audio recordings into accurate, time‑stamped transcripts. This remote, contract‑based position allows contributors worldwide to work flexible hours while supporting AI training data projects.
Key responsibilities
- Listen to 2‑speaker Oromo audio files and transcribe every spoken word.
- Label each speaker turn as Speaker 1 or Speaker 2, matching the corresponding audio channel.
- Insert timestamps at the start of each speaker turn using the HH:MM:SS format.
- Deliver clean, sequential transcripts with no unexplained gaps.
- Maintain a Word Error Rate (WER) of 5 % or less and zero speaker‑label errors.
Required profile
- Native or near‑native fluency in spoken and written Oromo.
- Strong written Oromo skills, including correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Ability to work independently and meet daily output targets (minimum 4 hours per day).
- Access to a computer with a stable internet connection.
- Willingness to complete a short qualification test before onboarding.
