MWR Supervisor – Sports & Fitness

About the role

The MWR Sports & Fitness Supervisor leads the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) fitness program at Camp Lemonnier Naval Base in Djibouti. Reporting to the MWR Manager, the role ensures safe, engaging, and well‑maintained sports, fitness, and aquatics services for U.S. armed forces personnel.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of the fitness program, including orientations, safety inspections, and corrective technique guidance.
• Schedule and manage dual/individual sports tournaments, team events, and intramural competitions.
• Maintain monthly community, sports, and fitness calendars and update health bulletin boards.
• Interface with local command officials, host MWR committee meetings, and promote events such as the Captain’s Cup.
• Perform preventive maintenance on fitness equipment, enforce safety standards, and oversee facility usage.
• Supervise the Aquatics facility, staff, and government‑issued equipment inventories.
• Ensure compliance with functional directives, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Provide excellent customer service, communication, and leadership to patrons and staff.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in recreation, sports management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing fitness or recreational programs.
• Availability during regular working hours and ability to respond to emergencies within one hour.
