Assistant Fire Chief – Prevention

About the role

KBR is seeking an Assistant Fire Chief – Prevention to lead fire‑prevention activities at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. Reporting to the Fire Services Chief, you will develop and execute a comprehensive fire‑prevention program, ensure compliance with regulations, and act as on‑scene commander during emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, develop, review, implement and evaluate fire‑prevention policies and procedures.
• Schedule and assign fire‑inspection duties and oversee fire‑prevention education programs.
• Review construction and engineering plans, providing technical guidance on fire‑prevention criteria.
• Identify base fire deficiencies, coordinate corrective actions with the Fire Chief and other agencies.
• Conduct recurring proficiency training for fire‑prevention personnel.
• Assess program effectiveness, recommend improvements, and manage fire inspectors.
• Serve as on‑scene commander for fire or crash incidents when the Operations Chief is unavailable.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen with an active Secret security clearance (or eligibility).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid passport (book) with at least 15 months validity and six blank visa pages.
• Valid driver’s license with at least six months remaining.
• Deployable OCONUS and able to meet all medical, physical and security requirements for assignment to Camp Lemonnier.
• Minimum 3 years experience as an Assistant Fire Chief for Prevention in a comparable program.
