Consultant for Baseline Study & Research on Alternative Care in Djibouti

About the role

SOS Children’s Villages International is seeking a qualified consultant or consulting firm to conduct two linked assignments in Djibouti: a baseline study for the Balbala Standard Project and a national & local research on alternative care, child protection systems, and community‑based responses. The consultant will deliver separate methodological approaches, work plans, and financial proposals for each study while ensuring overall coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a baseline study for the Balbala Standard Project, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Conduct national and local research on alternative care and child protection systems, covering both quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Develop clear work plans, timelines, and deliverables for each assignment.
• Prepare separate financial proposals for each study and a combined cost overview.
• Liaise with SOS Children’s Villages staff and local stakeholders to ensure relevance and accuracy of findings.

Required profile

• Proven experience in conducting baseline studies and child protection research.
• Familiarity with alternative care systems and community‑based response mechanisms.
• Ability to work independently and manage two concurrent assignments.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
