Plumber – KBR Djibouti Base Operations

About the role

KBR is seeking a qualified Plumber to support the operational well‑being of the U.S. armed forces at Camp Lemonnier Naval Base in Djibouti. Working under direct supervision, you will install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems for both commercial and residential facilities on the base.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures.
• Collaborate with general contractors, electricians, and other construction professionals.
• Follow building plans, blueprints, and schematics to complete projects.
• Respond to plumbing emergencies, diagnose issues, and perform timely repairs.
• Conduct routine inspections and clear drains using cable and jetting machines.
• Install and service backflow preventers and maintain accurate repair records.
• Observe all safety rules, wear required personal protective equipment, and perform clean‑up activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5+ years of experience as a plumber, preferably in a construction or base‑operations environment.
• Ability to work unsupervised, lift heavy units, and handle extreme outdoor temperatures.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and basic mathematics proficiency.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools used in plumbing.
• Knowledge of PVC, CPVC, PEX, ductile iron, and copper piping.
• Experience with backflow preventers, cable machines, jetting machines, and high‑pressure pump trucks.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and building codes.
• Mechanical aptitude and basic math conversion skills.
