Head of Investment – Islamic Banking

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to define and execute the Islamic investment strategy for a leading bank in Djibouti, overseeing portfolio management, risk, and stakeholder relations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the bank’s Islamic investment strategy, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and financial objectives.
• Lead portfolio allocation, performance monitoring, diversification and optimization across approved asset classes.
• Identify, evaluate and execute investment opportunities, conducting rigorous financial, market, credit and counterparty analysis.
• Oversee investments in government and corporate securities, fixed‑income instruments and other approved financial assets while tracking market developments.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, AML/CFT, sanctions and internal investment limits, maintaining robust governance controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of investment experience within banking, financial institutions or asset management.
• Proven senior‑level expertise in investment strategy, portfolio management, fixed‑income/securities and asset allocation.
• Demonstrated ability to assess sovereign, credit, market and counterparty risks for domestic and cross‑border investments.
• Fluency in French and professional proficiency in Arabic and English; experience in Djibouti, Africa or Francophone markets is a plus.
