Senior Project Manager - UN Verification and Inspection Mechanism for Yemen

About the role

UNOPS is looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead the UN Verification and Inspection Mechanism for Yemen (UNVIM), which facilitates commercial imports and addresses the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Working under the strategic guidance of the Regional Director, the Senior PM drives new policies, techniques and standards for project delivery, leads substantive teams and ensures the project is implemented in line with UNOPS policies and partner agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the project according to its document and legal agreements, keeping to the time frame, budget and milestones set by the Steering Committee
• Manage work packages, quality, acceptance and delivery, and liaise with external suppliers and account managers
• Lead contract management, including supplier performance evaluation, and identify and mitigate risks
• Engage stakeholders such as the Governments of Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Djibouti, donors, UN OCHA and UN agencies, and run regular Steering Committee and donor meetings
• Ensure compliance with audit requirements, coordinate quality reviews and quality control of documents and reports
• Lead, supervise and motivate the project management team, including fair performance reviews, recruitment and training, and safety and security in line with UNDSS standards
• Manage the budget, cash flow, procurement and financial controls, and prepare project closure and handover
• Produce regular project and financial reports and analyse economic indicators on commercial trade in Yemen
