Fire Equipment Mechanic Journeyman (Tier 4)

About the role

Fluor is seeking a skilled Fire Equipment Mechanic Journeyman (Tier 4) to maintain and repair a wide range of structural and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) apparatus and rescue gear. The role ensures all fire‑fighting and rescue equipment remains operational, safe, and compliant with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform repairs, testing, and scheduled maintenance on structural and ARFF fire apparatus, including pumps, discharge systems, and electronic controls.
• Maintain and certify self‑contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), dive equipment, hydraulic rescue tools, ventilation fans, saws, fire hoses, ladders, and protective clothing.
• Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules for air compressors, gas detectors, emergency water supply pumps, and rescue tools.
• Conduct testing and certification of ladders, hoses, nozzles, appliances, structural pumps, and ARFF pumps.
• Carry out routine inspections, cleaning, and annual fit‑testing of SCBA masks, air pack maintenance, and bottle testing.
• Repair fire extinguishers and ensure all non‑power‑train systems are functional.
• Supervise subcontractor personnel or junior staff as directed by management.
• Document all maintenance activities and ensure compliance with NFPA 1911, NFPA 414, and DoD fire‑service certification requirements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Hands‑on experience with both structural and ARFF fire apparatus and fire‑service equipment.
• Knowledge of NFPA 1911, NFPA 414, and DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program (or equivalent).
• Ability to read, write, and speak English at an intermediate level.
• Valid civilian driver’s license and eligibility to work in the job location.
