Remote Language Specialist Annotator

About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Language Specialist to join our remote team and support the development of advanced AI and Natural Language Processing (NLP) systems. You will apply your linguistic expertise to annotate, review, and validate language data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and cultural relevance across multiple languages.

Key responsibilities

• Annotate and review text, speech, or conversational datasets, labeling parts of speech, sentiment, intent, and syntax according to project guidelines.
• Ensure cultural and contextual appropriateness of all annotated data.
• Develop and refine annotation guidelines to improve consistency.
• Conduct quality‑assurance checks and measure inter‑annotator agreement.
• Provide feedback to optimise workflows and annotation standards.
• Support multilingual or domain‑specific annotation projects as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Languages, or a related field.
• Native or near‑native proficiency in the target language(s).
• Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, and overall language structure.
• Experience with linguistic annotation or data‑labeling projects.
• Familiarity with NLP concepts and AI development workflows.
• Multilingual capabilities are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with annotation tools such as Label Studio, Prodigy, or ELAN.
• Knowledge of corpus linguistics or discourse analysis.
