Senior Fire Equipment Mechanic (Structural & ARFF)

About the role

The Senior Fire Equipment Mechanic will perform repairs, testing and scheduled maintenance on structural and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) apparatus and rescue equipment at Chabelley Airbase, supporting the US Army’s LOGCAP V program. The role involves 12‑hour shifts, seven days a week, in both indoor workshops and harsh field environments.

Key responsibilities

• Repair, test and maintain a wide range of fire‑fighting and rescue equipment, including SCBA, dive gear, hydraulic rescue tools, ventilation fans, saws, fire hoses, ladders and protective clothing.
• Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedules for all firefighting and rescue assets.
• Conduct air testing, gas detector checks, emergency water‑pump inspections and ventilation equipment certification.
• Perform testing and certification of ladders, hoses, nozzles, appliances, structural and ARFF pumps.
• Carry out routine inspections, cleaning and annual fit‑testing of protective clothing and SCBA components.
• Maintain emergency vehicle systems such as pumps, discharge controls and electronic control units.

Required profile

• 5‑6 years of experience as an Emergency Vehicle Technician on structural and ARFF apparatus.
• Valid US civilian driver’s licence.
• EVTCC Structural and ARFF Apparatus certification.
• Intermediate English proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to work 12‑hour shifts, seven days a week, in demanding environments.
• Full COVID‑19 vaccination (or approved exemption).

Required skills

• Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVTCC) certification.
• Structural and ARFF apparatus maintenance.
• SCBA (MSA) air‑pack and mask/regulator maintenance.
• Pump testing and repair (structural and ARFF).
• Gas detector and air compressor testing.
• Ventilation and rescue tool maintenance.
• Electronic control system troubleshooting.
