Country Technical Senior Specialist – Food Security (Djibouti)

About the role

The Country Technical Senior Specialist – Food Security will lead FEWS NET activities in Djibouti, providing evidence‑based early warning analysis to inform humanitarian and development decisions. The role works within Chemonics’ Decision Support Team, collaborating with a network of international partners.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain virtual and physical field offices and coordinate technical and administrative management for the Djibouti country office.
• Monitor and analyse food‑security drivers such as conflict, weather, agro‑climatology, crops, pasture, markets, trade and nutrition.
• Produce regular Food Security Outlooks, emergency alerts, market updates and targeted analytical reports.
• Facilitate joint monitoring, data sharing and collaborative analysis with international, regional and national partners.
• Support the development and strengthening of local and regional food‑security networks.

Required profile

• In‑depth understanding of local livelihoods and food‑security dynamics in Djibouti.
• Experience monitoring factors that affect food security, including conflict, weather conditions and market trends.
• Ability to work closely with a diverse set of partners such as NASA, NOAA, USDA, USGS and academic institutions.
