Hydraulic Technician – Field Engineer (Level 3)

About the role

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Hydraulic Technician to provide on‑site support for hydraulic‑powered entry and exit barriers across the USAFE‑AFAFRICA area of responsibility. The position focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing barrier systems at secure installations in Djibouti and Manda Bay, Kenya, ensuring continuous operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Perform field assessments, inspections, and data collection on hydraulic barrier systems.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic power units, pumps, actuators, accumulators, control valves, sensors, and related electrical interfaces.
• Execute routine and preventive maintenance on wedge barriers, bollards, drop arms, gates, and associated control systems.
• Document findings, complete work orders, and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
• Support a six‑day, 10‑hour work schedule to meet operational requirements.

Required profile

• Mid‑level experience with hydraulic systems in a field or industrial environment.
• Ability to work independently on remote sites and travel 11‑25% of the time.
• Security clearance at Secret level or ability to obtain one.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to safety protocols.
