Marine Mechanic for US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Marine Mechanic to support a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role involves troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling marine diesel engines, waterjets, propulsion systems, and related mechanical equipment aboard assigned vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, overhaul, and maintain marine diesel engines, waterjets, propulsion systems and associated equipment.
• Provide technical support to Chief Engineers and Vessel Engineers to ensure safe and reliable vessel operation.
• Inspect, repair and maintain auxiliary systems such as air compressors, pumps, cooling, fuel and hydraulic systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to manufacturer specs, company procedures and schedules.
• Support dry‑dock operations, including inspections, repairs, equipment installation and syncrolift maintenance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports and technical documentation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum three years of experience repairing diesel engines, preferably marine diesel engines and propulsion systems.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to read and interpret operating manuals, service manuals, technical drawings and repair documentation in English.
• Pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
