Sr. Specialist, HVAC

About the role

KBR is seeking an experienced Sr. Specialist, HVAC to operate and maintain stationary engines and mechanical equipment that provide heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning for buildings and industrial processes at Camp Lemonnier Naval Base in Djibouti.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HVAC and refrigeration repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance for chiller units, package units, split units, refrigerated containers, walk‑in chillers, freezers and ice machines.
• Inspect, diagnose and repair compressors, coils, fan motors, pumps, expansion valves, refrigerant systems, VFDs, VRV/VRF systems and related electrical components.
• Prioritize breakdowns, coordinate preventive maintenance and corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
• Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to technicians, ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
• Lead emergency breakdown response, perform root‑cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of experience as an HVAC Mechanic Lead or similar role.
• High school diploma; associate degree or certification in HVAC/refrigeration preferred.
• EPA certification or equivalent.
• Fluent English, valid passport and driver’s license.

Required skills

• HVAC and refrigeration maintenance and repair.
• Reading complex electrical schematics.
• Refrigerant recovery, charging, leak detection and testing.
• Experience with VFDs, VRV/VRF systems, sensors and temperature controllers.
