Carpenter Journeyman I – Tier 4

About the role

Fluor is looking for a skilled Carpenter Journeyman I (Tier 4) to construct, erect, install, and repair wood, plywood, and wallboard structures and fixtures. The role involves working from detailed blueprints and adhering to local building codes and military specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Construct, erect, install, and repair wood, plywood, and wallboard structures using hand and power tools.
• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine material types, dimensions, and layout.
• Select and prepare lumber or other materials, mark cutting and assembly lines, and shape materials with saws, chisels, and planes.
• Assemble and fasten components using nails, dowel pins, glue, and verify alignment with plumb bobs and levels.
• Erect frameworks, lay sub‑flooring, build stairs, and install partitions.
• Provide data to Automated Information Systems (AIS) and perform duties in accordance with AR and DoD regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent with at least two years of related experience.
• Journeyman‑level certification or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate level.
• Authorization to work in the country of employment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with carpenter’s hand tools and power tools.
• Experience using measuring tools such as rules, framing squares, calipers, and marking gauges.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building plans.
• Skill in cutting, shaping, and fastening materials using saws, chisels, planes, nails, dowel pins, and glue.
• Knowledge of alignment tools like plumb bobs and carpenter’s levels.
