Head of Investment – Islamic Banking

About the role

The role leads the bank’s Islamic investment function, shaping strategy, overseeing portfolio performance and ensuring alignment with risk appetite and financial goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the bank’s Islamic investment strategy, ensuring alignment with the approved risk appetite and financial objectives.
• Oversee portfolio allocation, performance monitoring, diversification and optimisation across approved asset classes.
• Identify, evaluate and execute investment opportunities through rigorous financial, market, credit, counter‑party and risk analysis.
• Manage investments in government and corporate securities, fixed‑income instruments, placements and other approved financial assets while tracking market developments.
• Ensure compliance with investment mandates, regulatory requirements, AML/CFT, sanctions and maintain robust governance controls.
• Lead the investment function, provide senior‑management recommendations and portfolio reporting, and maintain relationships with banks, asset managers and market counterparties.

Required profile

• Arabic or North African nationality with at least 12 years of relevant investment experience.
• Proven senior‑level experience in investment strategy, portfolio management, fixed income/securities, asset allocation and risk assessment within banking or asset‑management environments.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and execute domestic and cross‑border investments, including sovereign, credit, market and counter‑party risk analysis.
• Fluent French (essential) and strong professional proficiency in Arabic and English.
• Leadership and stakeholder‑management skills; experience in Djibouti, Africa or Francophone financial markets is a strong advantage.
