Transportation Assistant / Alternate Site Manager (Contingency Hire)

About the role

The Transportation Assistant / Alternate Site Manager supports the Distribution Center’s logistics mission, overseeing receiving, storage, inventory, packaging, stock control, issue processing, packing, shipping, and distribution of contingency materials for DLA wholesale and Army SSA retail operations.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Alternate Site Manager with full authority over contract performance when the primary Site Manager is unavailable.
• Oversee a freight terminal, arranging transportation for all issue transactions and directing employees in outbound shipping load planning and scheduling via air, surface, small parcel, and sea.
• Ensure compliance with contracts, DTC, SDDC, and Global Freight Management system applications.
• Complete and manage transportation documentation, including Bills of Lading, manifests, and other required forms.
• Plan and allocate resources—personnel, equipment, and materials—based on workload projections and adjust staffing to meet workload fluctuations.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of transportation experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS) within the past five years.
• Knowledge of Government and Commercial Traffic Management functions and processes.
• Ability to supervise and manage transportation operations effectively.
• Familiarity with government logistics systems and procedures.
